KODA has bemoaned poor emergency care at the Accident and Emergency Centre
The Korle-Bu Doctors Association (KODA) has spoken out about worsening conditions at the Accident and Emergency Centre of the hospital, warning that the situation exposes both patients and healthcare workers to risk.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 23, 2026, KODA called on management of the hospital and the health ministry to avoid blame games and address the situation.
“The Ministry of Health and Korle-Bu management should desist from making scapegoats out of a problem they are responsible for as leaders of healthcare,” it stated.
KODA urged all its members to stick to professional protocols to protect themselves and their patients.
“We urge all members to strictly adhere to professional protocols to protect themselves and their patients. Clearly document the clinical environment in every patient’s folder… If care is provided in a sub-optimal setting, it must be noted explicitly," it noted.

KODA further entreated hospital management to take immediate steps to address the crisis.
“Review the referral linkages: Engage with the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service to ensure the referral system functions as a network, rather than Korle Bu being the sole and preferred center.
“Resource Allocation: Immediate provision of adequate logistics, consumables, and temporary holding spaces that meet basic clinical standards,” it added.
