Doctors and Nurses at the Korle Bu Accident and Emergency Centre, have commended the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) for their commitment to augment the provision of health care to accident victims.
Doctor Frederick Kwarteng, Head of the Centre, made the commendation after receiving medical items worth GHC15,000 from the Greater Accra Secretariat of the GPRTU.
The items, 10 wheelchairs, two poly tanks, 10 gallons of liquid soap, 50 packs each of toilet rolls and assorted can minerals, 10 packs of jumbo tissue, one big microwave and four full pieces of GPRTU anniversary cloth.
He said GPRTU’s widows’ mite, donated to the Centre were crucial in offering health delivery services to greater number of victims admitted and urged other institutions and cooperate bodies to emulate the gesture.
He expressed joy over what he termed, ‘’first in history’’ and the critical role the items would offer in caring for accident victims.
Mr Abass Ibrahim Moro, Spokesperson of the GPRTU, on behalf of the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr Emmanuel Nii Ankrah, praised the health personnel of the hospital for their hard work and commitment to duty.
He called on them to demonstrate more commitment to saving lives and to help the hospital to enhance health care delivery in the country.
He gave the assurance that the GPRTU would maintain cordial ties with the hospital and support them in various ways to enable them to provide quality health care to the people.
