Kwabre District health insurance scheme owes GH¢441,910.71

Mamponteng (Ash), Jan. 25, GNA - The Kwabre District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme is indebted to public and private health providers in th= e area to the tune of GH¢441,910.71. The Asonomaso hospital has highest unpaid claims of GH¢104,402.03, Mamponteng Health Centre, GH¢89, 695.17, Aboaso Health Centre, GH¢38,= 044.80, Kenyase Health Centre, GH¢32,225.90 and the Antoa Health Centre, GH¢8,689.99.

Dr Kwabena Boateng Boakye, District Director of Health Service, said thi= s was putting enormous stress on the facilities and affecting health care. He therefore appealed to the scheme managers to act with dispatch to recover the money. Dr Boakye made this known during a 2009 performance review meeting he= ld by the District Health Directorate at Mamponteng.

Dr Boakye complained about inadequate staff, saying, with the population= of more than 125,000, the district has only two medical officers.
