Lordina Foundation supports 7 hospitals in Ashanti

The First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, has encouraged Ghanaian women to ensure regular breast examination by health professionals and said, that was the way forward to win the battle against the breast cancer disease.

She also counseled that they volunteered for HIV-AIDS test to know their status while engaging in safe sex to keep the deadly infection on a downward trend.

The First Lady was speaking at separate ceremonies held to present large quantity of medical supplies, running into thousands of cedis, in support of seven health facilities in the Ashanti Region.

The Saint Martin’s Hospital at Agroyesum, Ejura Government Hospital, the St. Patrick’s Hospital at Offinso, Mampong Government Hospital, Ejisu Government Hospital, Bomfa/Achiase Health Centre and Juaso Government Hospital benefitted.

Among the items they received were orthopaedic beds, gloves, syringes, bandages, plastic adhesives, theatre masks, blood collectors, isolated gowns, stabilizers, patient-care kits and wheelchairs.

These were procured by the Foundation she had set up, “Lordina Foundation”, in partnership with a United States (US)-based group – MEDSAHRE.

Mrs. Mahama was in the region for two days as part of her stepped up campaign to improve the health of the people.

She pledged to continue to work hard to assist provide the hospitals with essential medical supplies to substantially enhance the quality of care to the sick.

She said as President of the African First Ladies against HIV-AIDS, she was determined to see Ghana become free from the spread of the infection through mother-to-child transmission.

The First Lady rallied the people to work together to remove the stigma attached to disease, pointing out that, this was absolutely critical to the fight to reduce the spread.
