MTN organises free medical screening for traders

Accra, June 19 GNA - Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN) on Friday organised free health screening for a number of traders at the Rawlings Park in Accra, as part of its 21-Day Yello Care programme. The health screening was carried out by medical personnel from the Korle bu Teaching Hospital who were assisted by some volunteer staff of MTN.

The medical team checked for diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and high blood pressure. Dr Charles Donkor Baah, a medical officer from the hospital, said patients diagnosed to have diabetes, obesity and high blood pressure would be counselled while those with more complicated cases would be referred for treatment. Mr Emmanuel Asante, Manager, Sales and Distribution of MTN, said the Yello Care programme was the company's social contribution to the community where it operate its services and expressed the hope that the health screening programme would impact positively on the people. He said the company chose the Central Business District of the capital because that was where people from all parts of the country converged for their business activities. Mr Robert Kuzoe, Senior Manager, MTN Ghana Foundation, said the Yello Care programme was an initiative by staff of MTN in all its 21 operational areas across the world to give back to society as their social responsibility.

He said the programme was sponsored by the group presidents and chief executive officers in all its operational areas. Mr Kuzoe said the company had organised road safety programmes and football clinics as part of the Yellow Care programme.
