Reverend George Acheampong, a Tutor at the Ramseyer Training Centre of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), has appealed to workers to manage their time effectively to avoid stress.
He said the high rate of chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, cardio problems, ulcers and other respiratory diseases among Ghanaians were often due to stress.
Reverend Acheampong, who is also the Pastor of the Joy Congregation of the PCG at Nkawkawkuma, a suburb of Nkawkaw, was addressing the Nkawkaw District Men’s Fellowship Conference of the PCG.
He said financial problems and misunderstandings among spouses could lead to the increase in blood pressure among the aged.
Reverend Acheampong said eating late in the night where digestion could not take place before the following day could also lead to diabetes.
He advised workers such as accountants, managers, and other business personnel to ensure the effective management of their working hours to avoid stress.
The aged should take their age into consideration and undertake regular exercises to ensure the proper circulation of blood in the body.
The District Minister in-charge of Nkawkaw District of the PCG, Reverend Atiemo Aryeh, expressed concern about men who shirk their parental responsibilities only to show up to collect marriage rites when their daughters were about to marry.
