Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, presented the keys to the vehicle at a ceremony in Kumasi. The Manhyia MP spoke of his determination to help complete abandoned= projects of the hospital. Dr Prempeh urged the management of the hospital to ensure that the vehicle was kept in good condition at all times and that it should develo= p strict maintenance schedule to keep it on the road. Dr Joseph Oduro, Deputy Ashanti Regional Director of Public Health, said the hospital, which has been serving a large section of the Kumasi population, lacked the necessary infrastructure and should be supported. He expressed concern about the inadequate space for in-patients and said the hospital has through its internally generated funds built a pharmacy and family planning block. Dr Oduro thanked the MPs for the donation and said he was confident the ambulance would enhance the operations of the hospital. 12 May 10
