Medland Hospital a Tema-based private medical facility has funded the tilling of the floor of Out Patient Department (OPD) of the Ashaiman Polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region.

The gesture according to the Medical Director of Medland, Dr. Martin Asare-Aniagyei is to improve healthcare delivery at the facility as part of activities marking the hospital’s 10th anniversary since its establishment in Tema Community 2.

Joining some dignitaries to unveil a plaque to commission the refurbished OPD, Dr. Asare-Anigyei explained that the decision to support the Ashaiman Polyclinic was in line with Medland’s support to the healthcare sector which is a critical sector of the Ghanaian economy.

According to him, the Ministry of Health has sought to support the health of Ghana’s human capital as a means of creating wealth for the nation. “This position is one that Medland hospital shares and fully supports” Dr. Asare-Aniagyei remarked.

He disclosed that Medland was established in the year 2006 at Tema Community 2 with the prime objective of extending the frontiers of healthcare delivery in Ghana in partnership with other key stakeholders in the health sector.

Dr. Asare-Aniagyei revealed that within the period, his outfit has strived to continue its quota to improve healthcare system that Ghanaians seek to live healthy lives.

“In the process of doing so, the point continues to be driven home on the vast gap that exists between the current healthcare delivery system and the cutting edge of healthcare delivery where the nation should be” Dr. Asare-Aniagyei stated and added that Medland’s motto ‘Quality healthcare delivery with dignity and compassion cannot be over emphasized.

“We at Medland hospital believe that in the area of healthcare delivery, resources should be invested in encouraging our people to accept that a hospital is a place you go for advice to prevent disease or when it is inevitable, for cure” he stated.

Dr. Darko William, Medical Superintendent of the Ashaiman Polyclinic expressed gratitude to Medland Hospital for the gesture and appealed to other benevolent organizations to come to the aid of the facility.

While promising to ensure that the OPD is well maintained, he revealed that the absence of an ambulance has created problem for the polyclinic and appealed to corporate institutions and the general public to help the polyclinic with one.

Dr. William mentioned that moving patients from one ward to the other or moving them from the facility to an external one is a huge problem because of the nature of the unpaved ground of the polyclinic.

The former of Parliament for Tema West Abraham Osei Aidoo and his wife were part of the dignitaries that graced the ceremony.
