The Ministry of Health on Tuesday awarded 133 institutions for providing quality healthcare services to the people.
Areas of concern were maternal and child deaths, immunisation and reduction in communicable diseases in the communities in which these institutions operate.
Awards were provided to deserving institutions in six categories, which included best Community and Health Planning Services, (CHPS), best district facilities, best district health administration, best hospitals, best reproductive child health centres and best private hospitals.
The awards aimed at inspiring the various health facilities, to enhance efficiency and effectiveness at the work place.
In the Greater Accra Region, Okyerekomfo CHPS Compound in Ga West District was adjudged the best, Ashaiman Polyclinic came first as the best district facility and Tema Metro Health Directorate considered the best directorate.
Achimota Hospital was regarded as being best hospital, La General Hospital, best Reproductive and Child Health Centre, and Manna Mission Hospital came top as the best private hospital.
The Amanse CHPS Compound in Suhum was adjudged the best in the Easter Region, Akateng in the Upper Manya was the best district facility, Birim South, the best health directorate, Nsawam, best hospital, Kwasi Fante, best Reproductive and Child Health Centre and Agyarko Hospital in Nkawkaw taking the first position in the private hospitals category.
Ashanti Region has Nyamebekyere CHPS Compound, Tebeso District facility and Bosome Freho District Health Directorate, in the best category.
Bekwai Hospital, top as the best district hospital, Wiamoase, best Reproductive and Child |Health Centre, and Country Hospital coming first as the best private hospital in the Ashanti Region.
In the Central Region, Awisem CHPS Compound in Assin North, best CHPS Compound, Breku Health Centre, best district facility centre, Gomoa West, best District Health Directorate, Saint Francis Xaview Hospital in Assin Fosu best district hospital, Assin Fosu Centre best Reproductive and Child Health Centre, and Micro Hospital in Cape Coast best private hospital.
The best CHPS Compound in Upper West Region went to Kokoligu in the Hamile, Hain in the Jirapa District, best district facility, Jirapa Hospital, best district health directorate, Nadowli Hospital, best district hospital, Wa Urban, best Reproductive and Child Health and Good Shepherd Maternity in Nandom, best private hospital in the region.
In the Upper East Region, Goriko/Awaredone CHPS Compound was considered the best, Wiaga, best district facility, Bawku West, best district health directorate, Sandema Hospital, best district hospital, Zongoyire, best reproductive and child Health and Saint Jude Clinic in Navrongo, best private facility in the region.
The Gbangbapong CHPS Compound came top, in the Northern Region with Nalerigu Hospital, best district facility, Bole Hospital, best district hospital, Tamale Metro, best reproductive and child health and Shekhinah Clinic, best private clinic.
Brong Ahafo Region registered Bantama in Sene West District as the best CHPS Compound.
Best district facility went to Subinso, Sunyani, best district health Directorate, Kintampo Hospital, best hospital, Sunyani Municipal, best reproductive and child health centre, and Millimed Clinic in Techiman, best Private Health Clinic in the region.
The Agoufie CHPs Compound best in the Volta Region, the best facility went to Dabala, Krachi West, best district directorate, Peki Hospital, best hospital, Council, best reproductive and child health, and Miracle Life Hospital, best private facility.
In the Western Region, Kwesikrom CHPS was adjudged the best, Esiama Health Centre, best district facility, Ellembele, best district health directorate, Discove Hospital, best hospital, Asankragwa Hospital, best reproductive and child health while Eikwe Catholic Hospital was considered the best private entity.
