The Ho Municipal Health Directorate has awarded three mothers for being consistent with the immunization of their children.
The mothers were given cooking utensils and certificates to encourage others to take immunization of their children serious.
Speaking at the launch of the 2018 Child Health Promotion Week in Ho,
Dr. Kwesi Senanu Djokoto, the Municipal Director of Health Services, said to achieve child-free diseases, it was necessary for parents to take up the fight in combating malaria and other childhood-killer diseases.
He said that was the only way the Municipality could boast of low percentage of child mortality attributed to malaria and other diseases.
Dr. Djokoto said Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compounds were receiving facelifts to bring health care providers closer to patients and encouraged parents not to fail in accessing them for the health of their children.
He urged Community Health Nurses to work with passion to meet set targets.
Madam Happy Aloryito, Assembly Woman for the Toviadzi Electoral Area, said she was working to ensure that all children in her area were immunized.
She said a task force had also been set up to promote cleanliness to help improve the health of especially children.
Mr. Christian Gohoho, the Municipal Disease Control Officer, said the child health promotion week was to commemorate Africa Vaccination and also create awareness about the importance of vaccination and nutrition in children.
He advised parents to make good use of treated bed nets and also register their children with the National Health Insurance Scheme.
The 2018 Child Health Promotion is themed: "Reaching Every Child with Essential Services - Use your Health Record Book; Vaccinated Communities, Health Community".
