Tamale, Feb. 10, GNA - The Christian Children's Fund of Canada (CC= FC), a non-governmental organisation, has donated drugs worth GHc37, 784.83 to the Ghana Health Service. The drugs include 506,000 units of albendazole to be distributed to children alongside the national immunization day for children under five, 1,034,000 tablets of ferous sulphide B for pregnant women and 1,024,000 vitamins tablets for children and pregnant women.
Mad Sanatu Nantogma, the Country Director of the CCFC, said the NGO wa= s committed to supporting the country in areas of health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, sustainable livelihood and organizational strengthening.
She said the NGO had distributed drugs to the Ghana Health Service in the fight against malaria and worms infestations to school children over th= e last five years, adding that 200,000 school children had so far been de-wormed through the support of the NGO.
Mad Sanatu said the presentation was to support the Ghana Health Service to ensure that children were healthy and had the capacity to concentrate on their studies to become better persons for the benefit of th= e country.
She said for over 15 years, CCFC had worked with local partners in 13 districts towards ensuring that children, families and communities were supported to improve their lives and to initiate processes of development. Dr. Akwasi Twumasi, Northern Regional Director of Health Service, commended the CCFC for its sustained contribution to quality healthcare delivery. He appealed to other benevolent organisations to assist the Ghana Health Service to continue its efforts in quality healthcare delivery.
