Tamale, Sept. 25, GNA - Ananse Rich Concept (ARC), an international NGO, is to establish a global database to identify bone marrow groups and link up with life-saving donors to save the lives of people suffering from leukaemia.
Nana Adwoa Anti, Founder of ARC, said this at the launch of the regional branch of the NGO in Tamale on Tuesday.
She said the NGO, dedicated to promoting the welfare and interest of children, was also advocating the establishment of health insurance schemes to provide affordable healthcare to the underprivileged and marginalized children.
It would also ensure that children were given quality education no matter which part of the country they might be, and thus assist government to make the rural communities attractive for teachers to accept postings there.
Miss Emefa Yengbe, National President of ARC, said Ananse clubs would be formed in interested schools and each club would be encouraged to adopt a community in any part of the world to be a beneficiary of the activities of the NGO.
Miss Ibrahim Humu-Kusum, an organiser of the NGO, said it had donated used clothing, blankets, mattresses, mosquito nets and food items to the Nabogu and Nawuni communities in the Tolon/Kumbungu District hit by the recent floods.
She appealed to philanthropists, the Metropolitan, Municipal and District assemblies to assist the NGO to provide for the needs of children in the deprived communities.
