Global-South Health and Relief Agency has praised the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), under the leadership of Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for clearing the backlog of financial commitments.
"The past few months have witnessed several such payments by the authority, and we at the Global-South Health and Relief Agency find it necessary to commend the leadership of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), specifically, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye.
"The Global-South Health and Relief Agency is excited about this because, as an international organization, we prioritize the health and well-being of the average person living in developing or third-world countries, such as Ghana. So, we could not have overlooked this great development," a press statement from the Global-South Health and Relief Agency said.
Recently, the Authority released an amount of GH¢151 million to healthcare providers across the country.
The release of the GH¢151 million was a supplementary disbursement of earlier distribution of funds which was not in the public domain.
However, the Global-South Health and Relief Agency in its press statement added, "We believe civil society and the Ghanaian public in general would appreciate and commend the NHIA and its head, Dr. Da-Costa Aboagye, for the recent show of unmatched commitment towards the well-being of the Ghanaian people by living up to its responsibilities, which include committing to the sustainability and efficiency of healthcare delivery in the country.”
