The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has unveiled a new logo for its health insurance scheme as part of the 10-year anniversary celebrations.
The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) marked its decade of existence on Thursday, September 5, 2013.
Two months of activities have been lined up. The activities include anniversary lectures, an international conference and an inter-schools quiz competition, among others, to deepen awareness of the NHIS.
Thursday's ceremony, which was held in Accra, saw the unveiling of a new tagline as well: "Your access to healthcare".
The Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, Sylvester Mensah, promised that the new brand will provide increased enrolment, instant issuance of NHIS IDs with biometric features and enhanced efficiency in claims management.
The NHIS has gained international recognition and acclaim since its implementation under the National Health Insurance Act, 2003, (Act 650). It won the UN Award for Excellence and Leadership in November 2010. Several African countries have also understudied Ghana's foremost social intervention programme for onward adoption.
The tenth anniversary celebrations is under the theme: "Towards Universal Health Coverage: Increasing Enrolment whilst Ensuring Sustainability".
