Obuasi mutual health insurance needs comfortable office

The Obuasi Mutual Health Insurance is really doing the people of Obuasi a great service, but there are major challenges hampering the smooth operations of the scheme in the Municipality which needs national attention immediately.

Their first office which was located at the third floor of the Hussey Park stores wasn’t favourable to physically challenged clients,Old clients and chidren. Clients had to take or climb more than 30 step staircase to get to the office. The unfortunate thing happened when a eight year old boy fell from the top of the office and died, this early August.

After this unfortunate and sad incident, some of us used all available media platforms to campaign for a new and safely situated office complex for the NHIS.

Early September, the y were moved from Hussey Park stores and brought to a new office, which was also a storey building and opposite the old Obuasi Library. You pass by the office and see clients standing in long stressful queues waiting to be attended to for hours.

Pregnant women and chidren suffer the mist in this ordeal without even chairs to sit on.

I don’t think it has been stated in any law that they should have their offices in on storey buildings which doesnt favour the physically challenged,Old folks and Kids.

It is time the Municipal Chief Executive finds a more convenient office space for the NHIS which will benefit the lot, especially the vulnerable.

I urge the Federation of Disable and the media to take this matter up until something positive happens.

An office on a grounds floor with safe environment and convenient place will do.
