Oguaa MP pays premium for 1000 vulnerable in Cape Coast

Cape Coast, Feb. 28, GNA - The Member of Parliament for the Cape Coast constituency, Ms. Christine Churcher, on Thursday presented a cheque for GH¢10,000 to the Oguaa Mansin Health Insurance Scheme in Cape Coast for the registration of 1000 vulnerable people. Ms. Churcher who presented the cheque at the launch of the "National Health Insurance Scheme Premium" for the vulnerable in Cape Coast made an initial registration of more than 200 vulnerable who were present. Ms Churcher said she decided to assist the needy because when she visited a friend at the Cape Coast regional hospital, she met a lot of people she knew who were on admission and could not afford to buy drugs or pay for the treatment.

Ms. Churcher who presented the cheque at the launch of the "National Health Insurance Scheme Premium" for the vulnerable in Cape Coast made an initial registration of more than 200 vulnerable who were present. Ms Churcher said she decided to assist the needy because when she visited a friend at the Cape Coast regional hospital, she met a lot of people she knew who were on admission and could not afford to buy drugs or pay for the treatment. The MP in this regard entreated the public to register with the NHIS so as to prevent unforeseen circumstances. Mr. Osei Reindorf manager of the Oguaa Mansin Health Insurance Scheme, for his part said the registration of the 1000 vulnerable, was the highest registration ever done in the municipality. He stated that the money has already been paid to the NHIS office in Cape Coast but that his outfit was yet to identify the beneficiaries of the scheme. Mr Reindorf said a total of 81,288 people have so far registered with the Oguaa Mansin Health Insurance Scheme.
