Our meeting with Health Ministry may not be fruitful – Striking Lab Scientists

Aggrieved laboratory scientist are casting doubts over the successful outcome of the scheduled meeting with the Health Ministry today.

The concerned health workers say the entrenched posturing of the Ministry in previous meetings is evident that today’s anticipated meeting will amount to nothing.

Thousands of patients across the country have been left frustrated following the decision by the lab scientist to lay down their tools in demand of better working conditions.

The Public Relations Officer of the aggrieved lab scientist, Dennis Gyasi has said the situation is not likely to change.

He told Starr News that Tuesday’s meeting will remain a formality if the Health Ministry maintains it’s stance.

“We got a letter indicating that we have to do a meeting with the Minister of Health, but then the leadership needed to consult with the National Executive Committee. This strike is an action that emanated from what the congress way back in November 2017 took a decision to do if we don’t get response to the request we’ve made, so we needed to consult before we go into the meeting.

“We’re hoping we’ll meet the Minister to see what the have in store for us. But we’re not so much hopeful of something going to change because on 12th April, we met the Minister of Health, we didn’t get any indication that he was going to proffer any positive direction in line of what we’ve requested for the lab directorate, the laboratory account and resolution of the single spine. So we’ll just go in as courtesy demands and just hope that things change.”
