Another allegation has been leveled against authorities at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) after senior officers last Tuesday claimed they had not been paid since January, 2012.

It appears the situation cuts across the entire staff as over 600 nurses on Thursday also claimed they had not been paid since they were hired.

“Yes, we have sent various petitions, but we are yet to receive a response,” a nurse spoke on anonymity on TV3’s 7GMT on Thursday. She said most of them were hired since January, 2012 and the situation keeps worsening as all those hired after them have not received any form of payment.

“We have nursing officers. I attended the University of Ghana Nursing School. Other categories of nurses attended private nursing training schools,” she indicated.

She told TV3’s Wendy Laryea that they have petitioned the President of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association (GRNA), Kwaku Asante Krobea. “He promised he was going to do something about it,” she said.

She indicated that they will appeal to the National Labour Commission (NLC) at the end of the month if the authorities fail to respond to their needs.
