Patronize the treated mosquito nets

Shama, June 27, GNA - Dr. Efua Amo-Addae, Shama District Director of Health, has encouraged the residents of the area to patronize the mosquito nets to be distributed towards reducing the spread of malaria.

She said the government's efforts at eradicating malaria, one of the leading causes of deaths among pregnant women and children, in Ghana would be meaningless without the total support of all citizenry. Dr. Amo-Addae made the call at the district launch of the Long

Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLIN) programme being implemented by the Ghana Health Service.

The nationwide distribution of insecticide mosquito nets takes effect from July 11 to July 15.

She noted that volunteers have this time been trained to do the hanging of the insecticide nets rather than individual hanging to ensure that the utmost benefits were derived.

Dr. Amo-Addae said supervisors would also go round to monitor and supervise the hanging and urged the district to cooperate to ensure successful implementation.

Mr. Enoch Kojo Appiah, District Chief Executive of the Shama District Assembly, cautioned them to desist from indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drains and water bodies.
