Dr. Arthur made the call during a medical screening exercise at the Alpha Homeopathic and Botanic clinic at Assin Fosu at the weekend. More than 300 attendants were screened and given free medicinal drugs. Diseases screened for included malaria and typhoid which Dr. Arthur noted were among the highest number of cases, and called on the District's authorities to intensify public education on preventive measures to curb the trend. He noted that most of the rural communities lacked access to potable water saying most of the people drink from ponds, streams and rivers that were infested with water borne diseases. Dr. Arthur asked the people to boil water fetched from ponds and streams before drinking, to clear the environment of weeds regularly and de-silt choked gutters. The Alpha Homeopathic Clinic is an alternative medicine facility which handles cases such as diabetes and cardio vascular diseases, among others. 07 Sept. 10
