Resolute Foundation Advisory Panel with support from Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited has collaborated with the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service to undertake a malaria sensitization and mass point distribution of long lasting insecticide treated nets in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality,
The Foundation together with the Ghana Health Service, NCCE and the Environmental Unit of the Municipal Assembly used focal meetings and video shows to educate the people on matters relating to malaria (especially on reducing the prevalence of it in the communities).
At a durbar of chiefs, community members, heads of government departments and school children to create the avenue for officers of the Ghana Health Service to help prevent malaria amongst children between ages five (5) to fourteen (14) years, as well as expectant mothers, General Manager of Mensin Gold, Mr. Bennett Kunkyebe commended the chiefs, community members and school children for turning up in their numbers to listen to the health professionals on matters relating to Malaria.
He further admonished the community members to adopt preventative lifestyles in their efforts to eradicate malaria from the communities, especially by ensuring that surrounding communities would be kept tidy and school children religiously encouraged to sleep in treated mosquito nets to enable them continue with education.
In a speech delivered on behalf of the Chairman of the Resolute Foundation Advisory Panel, Mr. Emmanuel Aidoo, the Community and Legal Relations Officer of Mensin Gold, reiterated the RFAP’s commitment to continuously engage stakeholders in working together to initiate community development initiatives and thereby assisting in developing the communities. Mr. Aidoo further called for more collaboration in the years ahead with the RFAP to enable them to continuously assist in developing the communities of interest.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Abdul Rahman Alhassan, who represented the Municipal Chief Executive said he was happy with the assistance being extended to some communities by Mensin Gold in the Municipality in assisting government’s efforts to developing the communities. He further requested the community members to take communal labour serious to complement the efforts of government in reducing the prevalence of malaria in the municipality.
The Resolute Foundation Advisory Panel (RFAP) was established by Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited (“Mensin Gold”) to engage and work together with the communities of interest in assessing and prioritizing community consultations and development initiatives for the mutual interest of all relevant stakeholders. The Resolute Foundation was set up to help guide social investments earmarked for communities of interest by Mensin Gold Bibiani Limited.
The Resolute Foundation has five community development pillars in the areas of Accountability, Education, Water and Sanitation, Community Health and Income Generation Activities (comprising small business development, sustainable alternative livelihood program and skills training/apprenticeship) for the people within the communities of interest.
While operating under “Care & Maintenance”, Mensin Gold is working assiduously to continuously engage community members and other stakeholders of the areas where it operates to foster good relationship with them as part of their corporate citizenship.
Since its establishment in February 2017, the Resolute Foundation Advisory Panel (RFAP) has undertaken numerous projects in furtherance of its community development pillars. Among the achievements are inter JHS quiz competition, construction of mechanized borehole at Degede, refurbishment of D/A ‘A’ School with office and store (badly damaged by fire in 2016), and construction of a six unit classroom block for Donkoto - Lineso.
The Foundation (RFAP) also granted Education Financial Assistance to 10 brilliant but needy students in tertiary institutions across the country in the 2017/2018 academic year. It is important to note that the refurbishment and construction of the aforementioned schools respectively were undertaken in collaboration with the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai District Assembly. The RFAP also supplied 450 syllabus-based reading books to the 90 students who participated in the quiz competition, sporting equipment and RFAP branded souvenirs.
Other speakers at the function were the Acting Director of Health Services in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality, Miss Lucy Anastasia Acquah, Mr. Isaac Tetteyfio, Municipal Health Information Officer and representative of the Anhwiaso paramount chief who also chaired the function, Nana Kwame Ankrah III, Gyantuahene of Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area.
