Mr Reynolds O. Tenkorang, the former Deputy General Secretary of the Health Services Workers’ Union (HSWU) has been elected the General Secretary at the just ended 11th Quadrennial Delegates Conference in Kumasi.

He went unopposed to take the mantle from Mr Abu D. Kuntulo, who is on retirement.

Mr Tenkorang joined the Union in 1998 as the Industrial Relations Officer in charge of the Eastern Region and was elected the Deputy General Secretary in 2008, a position he held until his election to the top position.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra, Mr Tenkorang said he would use his position to render quality service to members through expanding education and training to benefit all.

He said he would also let the Union’s presence been felt in the structures through frequent interactions and “I promise to continue to fight for social protection for Ghanaian workers as I did when I led the fight for the control and management of the 2nd Tier Pension Scheme two years ago”.

The conference, which was on the theme: “50 Years of Organising: Consolidating the Gains for Greater Prospects,” elected Franklin Owusu-Ansah, Deputy General Secretary; Zakaria Mohammed, National Chairman; Emmanuel L. Baffoe, 1st National Chairman; Joyce Bondzie-Asmah, 2nd Vice Chairperson; Godfred K. Oppong, 1st National Trustee, and Thompson Duut, 2nd National Trustee.
