The School of Hygiene in Ho has appealed to Government to improve the School’s infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.

Madam Michelle Asante, Vice President of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the School made the appeal when the Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Mr Michael Dzato visited the school on a sanitation tour of the Region.

She said the school lacked classroom blocks, library and adequate hostel facilities and appealed for the completion of a 12-unit single storey classroom block which started in 2015 by Ghana Education Trust Fund.

Madam Asante said students were currently occupying the Malaria Research Centre, which was not conducive for learning with overcrowding at the hostel.

She said inadequate hostel facility had forced students to study under wooden structures and risked being bitten by snakes.

Madam Asante said the School with student population of over 300 had only two toilet facilities, a situation which was worrying and affecting the punctuality of students for lecture.

Mr. Dzato, gave the assurance that concerns of the School would be addressed and hinted of plans to engage graduates of the School in upcoming “Sanitation Brigade” to improve sanitation in the country.
