Seed Producers Association urges immunisation against Meningitis in N/R

Wa, Jan. 31, GNA - Members of the Ghana National Seed Producers Association (GNSPA), has appealed to the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, to act quickly and immunise the people of Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions against Cerebro Spinal Meningitis (CSM), to avoid a possible outbreak. The members noted with concern that, during their outreach programmes in some rural communities of the three regions, it came to their notice tha= t a possible outbreak was looming, as people were dying of CSM related cases. Osafo Patrick Apullah, President of the GNSPA told the Ghana News Agency in Wa, on Sunday that, some health authorities were quite about the presence of the disease, even though it had claimed so many lives in recent times in the three northern regions.

Osafo Patrick Apullah, President of the GNSPA told the Ghana News Agency in Wa, on Sunday that, some health authorities were quite about the presence of the disease, even though it had claimed so many lives in recent times in the three northern regions. He said any further delay was likely to cause an epidemic in the next few months and called on the health authorities to stop paying lip-service about the disease. Osafo Apullah said the association had started educating its members a= s well as some rural communities about the disease. He tasked the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service to mobilise vaccines and other logistics to undertake the immunisation programme in the north to save the people from the disease.
