The Senya Citizens Association in the United Kingdom have donated medical consumables estimated at 15,000 Pounds Sterling to the Senya Health Centre Children’s Ward.

The items included medicated bathing and washing soaps, toilet rolls, detergents, syringes, gloves, and buckets.

Mr. Kwame Easel, President of the Association, who made the presentation at the Health Centre, said the donation formed part of their social responsibility to develop their community.

He expressed the hope that the items would help in caring for the sick who visited the facility, especially in relieving the burden on pregnant women/mothers who delivered at the facility.

It is about time that people of the area periodically donated some of their limited resources to the Centre to cater for our mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters who cannot afford the cost of medicines which were not covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme, he added.

Mr Andrew Owusu, a physician at the Centre who received the items, thanked the group for the kind gesture and assured that the items would be used for the intended purpose.

He appealed to other prominent people in the area, philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to also extend a helping hand to the facility to supplement the government’s efforts to improve health service.
