Service providers urged to offer flawless services

Dr George Kwame Prah, the Medical Superintendent in-charge of the Effutu Municipal Hospital, has called on service providers of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to render unblemished services.

He said by doing so, they would be making meaningful contributions to sustain the gains chalked by the National Health Insurance Policy.

Dr Prah made the call at a day’s health insurance stakeholders meeting in Winneba, organised by the Awutu Effutu Senya branch of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

He advised service providers, who collude with some greedy and dishonest HNIS workers to dupe the nation of huge sums of money to desist from such unwarranted and wicked acts.

The Medical Superintendent said they should take the policy as their own and speed up its total implementation and sustainability.

He urged service providers, who lacked certain qualities in their operations to always feel free to contact the experienced ones for advice to improve on the healthcare delivery.

Dr Prah called on the Clinical Audit Division of the Health Insurance Authority to provide efficient and acceptable operations.

Mr Francis Oti Frimpong, the Central Regional Director of the NHIA, who spoke on the theme: “Ten years of NHIS Implementation, Its Achievements, Challenges, and Way Forward,” said the scheme has brought about useful health initiatives to Ghanaians.

He mentioned the free maternal programme, the establishment of claims processing centres, the institution of clinical audit units, the establishment of NHIS call centres, and the establishment of offices in the ten regions of the country.

Mr Frimpong said the inception of the policy has come to ease the burden of healthcare cost of millions of Ghanaians, enabling many people to get access to healthcare.

He said currently the policy covers 10.5 million active subscribers, with over 3,200 accredited healthcare service providers.

The Regional Director praised the NHIA workers in the Awutu, Effutu, and Senya operational areas for their consistent hard work, which placed them as the best in the Central Region.

He urged them to strive hard to maintain and improve their performance strategies for more results.

More than 100 stakeholders attended the function at which participants assured the NHIA of their continuous co-operation and reliable service at all times.
