The 6 Garrison of the Ghana Armed Forces has held a Breast Cancer Awareness campaign comprising a health walk, educational talk, and breast screening to observe Global Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The event, themed "Screen Early, Live Longer, Join the Fight," was held on Friday, October 25, 2024, concurrently at Bawah Barracks and Camp Nyohini.

The breast cancer awareness campaign, sponsored by Services Integrity Savings and Loans (SIS&L), brought together an appreciable number of Garrison personnel and their families to observe the awareness campaign.

The General Officer Commanding Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Nartey Tei, in his address, admonished personnel to take breast cancer seriously and use the opportunity to get tested since early detection and treatment save lives.

Additionally, he encouraged personnel to adopt proactive healthcare through educational awareness and regular screening.

He also advised personnel to avoid stigmatizing friends and family members who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The Northern Regional Manager of Services Integrity Savings and Loans, Mr. Dauda Issaka, in his remarks, stated that breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and the second leading cause of cancer deaths globally.

He urged all to join in the fight against the dreadful disease that has brought suffering to individuals, families, and communities and together make the dream of breast cancer becoming a curable condition a reality.
