Sixty thousand people register with NHIS in Offinso

Offinso (Ash), Oct. 17, GNA- Mr Augustine Collins Ntim, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso on Wednesday said the membership of the Offinsoman National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has risen to 60,000. He said to ensure that the scheme achieved its targeted membership before the year ends, several sub offices have been established by the scheme's management at Asamankama, kokote, Abofour, Nkenkansu, and Afrancho, all in the Offinso district.

He said national service persons have been placed at vantage points in the various communities for easy location and registration. Mr Ntim who was speaking at a meeting of the district assembly at Offinso New Town, hinted that the central government has so far released an administrative and premium fund of GH=A218,000 and GH=A2270,293 respectively to support the scheme.

The DCE pointed out that internally, the scheme has from January to September this year mobilized GH=A244,432 from registrations, renewals and premium fees. He said "a total of GH=A2385,364 had been paid to service providers as claims covering January to August 2007". Mr Ntim called for a renewed spirit of cooperation and support from all stakeholders especially unit committee and assembly members to ensure that all members in the communities who have not yet registered with the scheme do so immediately. 17 Oct. 07
