Koforidua, Sept. 4, GNA - The Theological Science Society International, a society concerned with the scientific understanding of religion has presented money and food items valued at GH¢1,000 to the Children's Ward of the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

The items include 12 cartons of cream crackers biscuits, 12 boxes of fruit drinks, five cartons of milk and GH¢500.

Mr Mac-Jimmy Kwansah, Grand Sovereign and Director General of the Society, said the cash donation was to help the ward to support paupers who bring their children to the ward while the food items were to put smiles on the faces of the children admitted to the ward.

He said the presentation was part of activities marking the 53rd anniversary of the society and that it is the tradition of the society to offer material support to any community where they hold their annual conventions.

Receiving the items on behalf of the hospital, the head of the Children's Department, Dr Thelma Brown thanked the society for the cash donation to support the ward.

She said quite often, they receive mothers whose sick children are admitted at the ward and do not have money to pay for their drugs, nobody visits them and even when they are discharged from the hospital they do not have money to pay for their transport fare back home. Dr Brown thanked the society for their donation which she said would be used to support such sick children and their mothers.

The three-day convention of the Theological Science Society being held in Koforidua is under the theme, 93Theological Science Society Re-Echoed", and is being attended by 200 delegates with some from Nigeria, Canada and Russia.
