Accra, March 2, GNA - Support Life International, a local Non Governmental Organization into the use of complementary health therapy, is to collaborate with similar bodies abroad to establish a healing and yoga teaching training centre in Ghana. Announcing this in Accra to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, Mr Issah Musa Adams, Founder and President of Support Life International, said the aim is to raise the level of consciousness among Ghanaians to the importance of complementary therapy and also train people to become trainers in the treatment of all kinds of ailments.

He said the use of complementary therapy, which combines practices such as massaging, chiropractic, acupuncture, yoga, energy balancing, acupressure, among other things, help cured ailments such as stress, spinal disorders and migraine at a reasonably cheaper cost. Mr Adams, the only Ghanaian representative at the 2009 Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration, one of the world biggest yoga gatherings in California, debunked misconceptions about yoga practice saying "It is not a religion and has no correlation with any of the religions in any part of the world. | For instance, he added, yoga practice is an ideal form of health therapy, which slowed down the aging process in terms of physical appearance and improved the life expectancy of a population that guaranteed healthy labour force for productive activities.

Mr Adams said the centre, to be set up later this year and be headquartered in Accra, would attract healing masters from around the world including renowned yogi teachers, who would train and provide people with the tools for self discovery that would foster hope, discipline and respect for self and the society in which they lived in.

Support Life International, he said, hoped to collaborate with government and its relevant bodies that are into human resource (manpower) and health development such as Ministry of Employment and Health to make the project a reality.

Trained in Los Angeles as a community and social development worker, Mr Adams said the centre's work would be promoted through community and town activities where Ghanaians and other interested foreign nationals would also be guided towards creating healthy dietary habits, which would enhance their overall state of wellbeing.

Sharing his thoughts on the ultimate aim of life, he said, "It was important that people learn to live effectively by wisely and skillfully using their knowledge and abilities.

Support Life International is working in collaboration with prominent Ghanaians like Dr Edmund Dele, a renowned skin specialist and Dr Samuel Sasu, Spiritual Leader of the Centre for Spiritual Awareness in Ghana to establish the centre. Foreign partners include Dr Kishna Kaul of US, an international Yoga teacher trainer and Agape Hero Award Winner and Denis Davidson, also a US Yoga teacher and 2007 Yoga Trailblazer Award Winner noted for his unique style of incorporating an electric range of gospel to new age and hip-hop music. 2 March 10
