Tamale, May 27, GNA - The Tamale Teaching Hospital has received medical equipment, worth two million US dollars, donated by the Children of Abraham, a group based in Indiana, USA.
The equipments include, three cobe dialysis, a machine used for removing waste from the kidney, oxygen tents, ventilators, Western Lloyd neurostat, x-ray view boxes, 11 patient chairs, wheel chairs, medical record rotating table top and bedside monitors.
Also, ventilators, suction vacuum pump, physical therapy table, mayo stand, 1,726 boxes of miscellaneous medical supplies, stacker and office chairs and beds, among others.
Mr Alidu Fuseini, Director at the Head of Civil Service, who coordinated for the items, donated the equipment to the hospital on Friday.
He urged the management of the hospital to take good care of the equipment to improve the healthcare of the people.
He said 93Children of Ibrahim" were made of Christians, Muslims and Jews, who were showing the sign of brotherliness through their philanthropic gesture and called on all 93indigenes of the North, in the diaspora, to extend assistance to their people".
Mr Fuseini said the Tamale Teaching Hospital needs support to be able to handle all medical cases without referring them to other hospitals, adding that, there were enough specialists ready for the work.
Mr Moses Bukari Mabengba commended the philanthropic gesture of the group, saying that, government alone could not shoulder the health needs of the people without some support.
Mr Mabenga advised the people of Tamale to co-exist, irrespective of their differences, to promote development.
Mrs. Elizabeth Danso, Director of Nursing Service, at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, noted that the donation was overwhelming since it was one of the largest donations the hospital had received and assured them that it would be used to care for the people.
