The Member of Parliament for Tolon Constituency of the Northern Region, Hon Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei has donated 10 Apsonic ‘Kombian’ motorbikes to the Tolon District Health Directorate to enhance the delivery of health care in the area.

Presenting the motorbikes Hon Wahab Suhuyini Wumbei said, the motorbikes will enable health workers to deliver timely quality health service in the district, adding that, with the assistant of the motorbikes, health workers will now reach the remoted part of the district.

He noted that health workers face so many challenges but very optimistic that some of the major challenges facing the Health sector will be tackled.

The Tolon MP hinted that, he has prioritized health and education as part his development agenda for the constituency, adding that, a lot of development in the health sector is going to bring a quality healthcare service to the people.

Hon Suhuyini Wumbei said, a state-of-the-art hospital project for the district is ongoing and when completed will be one of the best hospitals in the region.

“We have to do our referral to Tamale and the villages to Tamale is not easy, we have a quite number of health facilities and most of them are hard to reach, communities like Zamtani, Kpendua, Kasulyili are very difficult to reach so I thought that donating this motorbikes is going to facilitate the work of the nurses so that they will be able to go to those places to help improve health care delivery”

He revealed that contracts have been awarded through the Special Initiative to furnish some health facilities in the area including Tali, Wayamba and Gbermani.

The Tolon legislator said, the health sector is facing several challenges, however, the donation of the motorbikes is one the interventions to mitigate the challenges the district health directorate is facing. “We will continue to collaborate with the health directorate to meet some of their challenges.

The DCE for Tolon, Hon Bachilsu Yakubu thanked the MP for his kind gesture, noting that, one of the major problems facing the Health Directorate have been the issue of motorbikes.

“Though we still need more such gestures however, this gesture will do a lot to enhance health care delivery in the remote communities. Health officers can now reach the remote part of the district”. She added

Madam Balchisu said, the Assembly will play a supervisory role to ensure that the motorbikes are kept in good condition to last its span.

The Tolon District Health Director, Madam Charity Azantilo who was so elated thanked the Tolon MP for the donation and pledged that the motorbikes will be used for the purpose been given.

She said the motorbikes will be distributed to some of the health facilities in the area to enhance their works.

Madam Azantilo appeal to the Assembly to provide accommodation for health workers in the district, “A lot of our staff are coming all the way from Tamale to work in this facilities, so accommodation is a major problem, we still want to appeal to the MP and the government to provide an accommodation for our staff”.

The Tolon Health Director again appeal to the Assembly to as matter of urgency rehabilitate the Kpendua, Yogu and Lingbing chips to improve health care in those communities.
