Ussuya Ghana donates PPEs, rice towards COVID-19 fight

Ussuya Ghana Limited, a Private Road Construction Firm has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and bags of rice and other items worth GH¢120,000.00 to the Upper West Regional Health Directorate to support in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The items were made up of 10 pieces of infrared thermometers, 6,000 pieces of nose masks, 40 pieces of face shield and 100 bags of rice were expected to be distributed among facilities including the Regional and Municipal Hospitals in Wa as well as Nandom, Tumu, Jirapa, Nadowli, Lawra and Gwollu Hospitals.

Presenting the items, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister, commended Yakubu Yussif, Managing Director of Ussuya Ghana Limited for coming to the aid of the region the second time since the start of the fight against the global pandemic.

Describing Mr Yussif as a true son of the region, Dr Bin Salih assured that the equipment and the food would once again be put to good use to help stop the spread of the virus in the region.

The Regional Minister expressed gratitude to all those who have made donations so far to support the region’s effort against the pandemic and said the region still needed more of the PPE and appealed for more donations from other sons and daughters of the region and indeed all well-meaning Ghanaians.

Receiving the items, Dr Osei Afreh Kuffuor, Upper West Regional Director of Health Services thanked Ussuya Ghana Limited for the show of commitment in the fight against the pandemic.

He noted that the region had a big challenge of managing COVID-19 cases in the region, stressing that once you quarantine or isolate people, you have to give them some comfort including feeding.

The Regional Director of Health Services said that the bags of rice would enable them feed these people and appealed for more from other benevolent organisations and individuals.
