Wa Islamic Hospital appeals for Nursing Training School

Wa, Aug. 28, GNA - The Management of the Wa Islamic Hospital has appealed to government to help the hospital to acquire a license to establish a Nursing Training School to help train more nurses.

Dr Hany Alhawary, a Plastic Surgeon Specialist and the Medical Director of the Hospital made the appeal when Alhaji Issahaku Salia, Upper West Regional Minister paid a visit to the hospital on Friday.

Dr Alhawary said the hospital was ready to put up the structures and provide the equipment to run the school but needed government support to acquire the license for the establishment of the school.

He noted that the school, when established, would assist in training more nurses to address the problem of inadequate nurses in the region and the country at large.

The hospital, which started operating as a clinic, has now been given temporal accreditation by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to operate as a hospital.

The Medical Director of the hospital said efforts were being put in place to develop the hospital to get a full accreditation to operate as a hospital.

Dr Alhawary pointed out that the absence of a Pathological Laboratory was one of the greatest challenges facing the hospital.

Alhaji Salia commended Dr Alhawary for his general contribution towards ensuring quality health delivery in the region and his commitment to develop the hospital.

He assured him that government would support in the acquisition of a license for the hospital to establish the Nursing Training School.

Alhaji Salia who used to donate to the hospital when he was a Member of Parliament pledged to liaise with donor organisations to come to the aid of the hospital.

He pointed out that the contribution of the hospital in the area of quality health care delivery in the region was significant and worthy of commendation.
