Wassa-Amenfi District Health Insurance Task Force inaugurated

Wassa-Akropong (W/R) Oct.4, GNA - Madam Doris Gyapomah Oduro District Chief Executive for Wassa-Amenfi has stressed the need for Ghanaians to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enjoy quality health care delivery.

She said issues on health must not be p oliticized because diseases transcended political affiliations. Madam Oduro made the call when inaugurating a Five-member Task Force to ensure the smooth implementation of the Scheme in the district at Wassa-Akropong on Monday.

She expressed the Government's commitment to improvement in the health needs of the people because good health was a prerequisite to accelerated socio-economic development. The DCE asked the Task Force to intensify public education and adopt pragmatic measures to ensure the scheme becomes operational this year. Mr. George Addo, Wassa-Amenfi District Coordinating Director said the district was yet to receive seed money for the implementation of the scheme, and pledged the commitment of the Assembly to raise money for the Scheme.

He advised the people to put premium on their health by contributing to the scheme for improved health care delivery. Nana Ntim Bediako, Chairman of the Task Force pledged their commitment and dedication to ensure success of the Scheme in the district. Other members of the Task Force were, Dr. Maame Pokuwaa Amo-Addae, Wassa Amenfi District Director of Health Services, Mr. Eric Ackah, District Electoral Officer, Mr. Bernard Blay of the National Commission on Civic Education and Madam Helena Appiah, an Assembly Member.
