Workshop for Ebola focal persons ends In Accra

About Twenty five Ebola Focal Persons and officials from churches and mosques, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), traditional rulers, media involved in the campaign against the spread of the disease in Ghana have attended a three-day capacity building workshop in Accra..

The program me, organized by world vision was aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and skills that would ensure the intensification of program-mes and campaigns to minimize the spread of Ebola in the country when its strikes..

Rev.Seth John Acquaye manager, christian commitments and church partnership , World vision Ghana schooled participants to intensify their sensitization programmes to create the necessary awareness to enable people have a deeper understanding of Ebola and how to faith communities can do to educate Ghanaians to change their life style. He urged them to work hard and educate the people on the dangers of the pandemic and its effects on the economy.

Mr Acquaye told them that they would be encountering challenges like stakeholder ignorant and inadequate knowledge of the pandemic but these should not discourage them to perform their duties. He advised them to vigorously organize sensitization and advocacy program mes that would help to promote healthy life style, especially in the area of sanitation and hand washing.

Also present at the workshop was Mrs Comfort Lartey- Ofori., who stressed the need "for each and every one join in the fight to combat the disease when its strikes in the country, whilst an Islamic scholar from Kenya Dr Hassan Kinwa , schooled the moslem communities on how to abolish some Islamic practices like touching of the dead in an Ebola situation .Participants were taken through topics such as Concerns and fears,Ebola prevention strategies, stigma and Ebola , and frequent hand washing techniques.
