Students of Asikuma Senior High urged to register with NHIS

Breman Asikuma (C/R), Oct.30, GNA -Students of Breman Asikuma Senior High School have been urged to register with the National Health Insurance Scheme in the District to enable them access free health delivery during their stay in the area. The headmistress of the school, madam Comfort Akomaning, said this when addressing a PTA meeting of the school at Breman Asikuma on Saturday.

She said the school has made it a policy for all students to register with the Health Insurance Scheme in the district since they would be staying there during their secondary school education. She said the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Mutual Health Scheme was charging GH=A25 per student for registration. Madam Akomaning said the school needs about GH=A270 to repair three of its four vehicles, which has broken down and appealed to parents and other philanthropists to come to their aid.

Madam Akomaning said Ms Selma Hamidu; a Biology Tutor of the school won the Central Region Best Teacher Award in Mathematics and Science and also placed second in the National Award in 2006/2007.

She expressed her gratitude to Barclays Bank Ghana Limited for donating GH=A23,000 towards the completion of a quarters at the school. Nana Miako Mante V, a divisional chief of Appega and chairman of the PTA who chaired the meeting, appealed to tutors of the school to set up targets for the academic year and strive to achieve it. He said the PTA would increase their motivation fee if they see an improvement in their children performances.

An appeal for fund yielded GH=A2700 in aid of the rehabilitation works in the school.
