A middle-aged patient at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has marked her recovery with a donation to the Department of Surgery, describing it as a simple way of saying thank you for care that helped restore her life.

Doris Adjei donated five suction electric apparatus to the department after completing treatment at the hospital’s Neuroscience Unit. The presentation took place at the Department of Surgery, where staff gathered to receive the equipment.

Speaking at the brief ceremony, Doris Adjei’s mother, Victoria Doku, said the family felt a deep sense of gratitude to the doctors and nurses who cared for her daughter through a difficult period. She said the donation was their way of appreciating the dedication, professionalism and compassion shown throughout the treatment process.

Receiving the items on behalf of the department, Dr Patrick Bankah, Head of the Department of Surgery and Head of the Neurosurgeon Unit, thanked Doris Adjei for giving back to the facility that cared for her.

He said the gesture reflected the strong bond between patients and health workers and reinforced the hospital’s commitment to delivering quality healthcare.

Dr Bankah used the occasion to appeal to individuals, organisations and corporate bodies to support the growth of the Department of Surgery and the hospital as a whole.

He described Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as a national asset that requires the collective support of all stakeholders to improve the delivery of seamless and high-quality healthcare services.

Also present at the ceremony were the Chief Nursing Officer, Christabel Thompson, Principal Nursing Officer, Elsie Sandra Folie, Principal Administrative Manager, Priscilla Lawer, and Esther Orji from the Stores Department.
