The Executive Director of INSTEPR and member of the NPP Communications Directorate, Kwadwo Poku, has questioned the clarity of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) proposed Free Primary Healthcare policy.

Speaking about the policy on JoyNews and monitored by GhanaWeb on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Poku argued that the NDC has not provided sufficient details on how the initiative would be implemented, particularly regarding its target demographic and operational framework.

“The NDC does not have clarity of policy. Clarity is important. If you want to do free primary healthcare at CHPS compounds, you are probably targeting a certain demography, because where do you find CHPS Compounds? If you do free primary healthcare in the cities, you will be running into certain problems that you will not run into in free primary healthcare. What I’m saying is that clarity of policy is important,” he stated.

Poku further emphasised that the NPP already rolled out several pro-poor initiatives, contrasting them with the NDC’s proposal.

“They don’t have clarity of policy. We, the NPP, have done more pro-poor policies than the NDC. We’ve done maternal healthcare…” he added.
