Dr Tutu stood out for his focus on research, quality care, and promotion of indigenous systems
Fourteen individuals and institutions have been honoured at the 15th Heroes of Distinction Awards held in Accra, under the theme “Resetting Our Public Institutions: Panacea for Rapid Economic Recovery.”
The event recognised outstanding contributions across various sectors, with organisers highlighting innovation, community impact, and commitment to service excellence as key selection criteria.
Delivering remarks at the ceremony, Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Hajia Shamima Muslim said Ghana’s Reset Agenda reflects a deliberate effort to rebuild public institutions, restore public trust, and promote shared prosperity.
She added that strong and accountable institutions remain critical to economic growth, investor confidence, and national development.
Among the honourees was herbal practitioner Dr Ben Tutu and his facility, Benadak Research and Herbal Clinic, which received the Herbal Medicine and Clinic of the Year award.
The award recognises Dr Tutu’s work in alternative medicine and his use of research-based approaches in traditional herbal treatment.
His clinic has gained national attention, attracting patients from across Ghana seeking natural remedies for various health conditions.
Organisers, West Africa International Press Limited, publishers of The New Ghanaian Magazine, said the selection was based on innovation, public health impact, and adherence to safe herbal practices.
They noted that Dr Tutu stood out for his focus on research, quality care, and promotion of indigenous knowledge systems.
Speaking after receiving the award, Dr Tutu expressed gratitude to his team and clients, dedicating the honour to supporters of herbal medicine.
He also called for greater recognition and support for the herbal medicine sector, stressing its role in complementing modern healthcare.
The Heroes of Distinction Conference and Awards celebrates individuals and institutions contributing significantly to national development.
This year’s edition brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and professionals to promote excellence and innovation.
