Dunkwa-on-Offin Hospital signpost
The Municipal Hospital in Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region has reportedly been without oxygen supply since Friday, June 5, 2026.
The situation, according to a report by citinewsroom.com, said an internal notice sent to staff said that the issue is severely impacting patient care, especially for children and oxygen-dependent patients.

The report added that as of midnight on Sunday, June 7, 2026, the hospital had been relying on reserve (buffer) cylinders.
However, those cylinders have now been exhausted.
“We wish to bring to your notice that the oxygen plant has been down since Friday. From Friday up until Sunday midnight, we have been relying on the buffer cylinders to maintain supply… as of now, those buffer cylinders have run out,” the citinewsroom report stated, although hospital management is yet to issue an official public statement.
The notice added that engineers are on their way from Accra to repair the oxygen plant.

A hospital staff member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, reportedly disclosed that all babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and other oxygen-dependent patients have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
Meanwhile, the portal said it can, however, not confirm whether the development has led to any patient deaths.
