What you drink in the morning can be a simple way to start your day well. After several hours of sleep without drinking water, your body needs fluids. A glass of water is often enough, but there are other drinks you can try if you want a little variety.

A recent article by docksiderestaurant.com has highlighted six morning drinks that can help you stay hydrated and offer other benefits.

Warm lemon water

Warm lemon water is one of the easiest drinks to prepare in the morning. All you need is a glass of water and a little fresh lemon juice.

Four morning drinks that may help support healthy blood sugar

The water helps replace fluids lost during the night, while the lemon adds flavour and some vitamin C. It can also be a good option if you struggle to drink plain water.

However, lemon water is not for everyone. Its acidity can worsen heartburn or acid reflux. If you experience these problems, plain water may be a better choice.

Ginger Tea

Ginger tea is another simple option, especially if you enjoy a warm drink in the morning.

Ginger has been studied for its ability to help relieve nausea. Some people also find it soothing when they have an unsettled stomach.

To prepare it, wash and crush a small piece of fresh ginger. Add it to a cup of water and let it simmer for about five to seven minutes.

Cumin Water

Cumin water, also known as jeera water, is popular in Indian cooking and traditional wellness practices. It is made by soaking or boiling cumin seeds in water.

To prepare it, add a teaspoon of cumin seeds to a cup of water. Boil for a few minutes, allow it to cool slightly and strain before drinking.

Fenugreek Seed Water

Fenugreek seeds, known as methi in some countries, are used in cooking and traditional remedies. Some studies suggest that fenugreek may help lower blood sugar, although the evidence is not strong enough to treat it as a replacement for prescribed medication.

To make the drink, soak a small amount of fenugreek seeds in water overnight. You can strain the water in the morning.

Green Tea

If you want something other than coffee in the morning, green tea is worth considering.

It contains antioxidants called catechins and also provides caffeine. It can be part of a balanced diet, although drinking it does not automatically lead to weight loss or prevent disease.

To prepare green tea, add hot water to the tea leaves or tea bag and allow it to steep for about two to three minutes. You can drink it without sugar or add a little if needed.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is a refreshing option, especially on a hot morning or after physical activity. It contains water and minerals, including potassium, which the body needs for normal muscle and nerve function.

You can drink it on its own, preferably without added sugar. Fresh coconut water is a convenient choice when available, but packaged versions can also work. Check the label to see whether sugar has been added.

Can you drink these beverages every day?

Starting your morning well does not have to involve expensive drinks or complicated routines. A glass of water is a good place to begin.

If you enjoy ginger tea, green tea or coconut water, you can include it in your routine. Just remember that no drink can make up for poor eating habits or replace medical treatment.

What matters most is staying hydrated throughout the day, eating balanced meals and getting enough rest.
