Royal Kingdom Estate has organised a free breast cancer awareness and screening exercise for residents of Amanfrom to promote early detection and improve access to healthcare in the community.

The initiative, held in partnership with Medigrace Medical Centre, provided residents with free screening services and education on breast cancer, including how to identify possible warning signs, conduct self-examinations and seek medical attention promptly.

Medical practitioner Dr Yaw Tutu of Medigrace Medical Centre educated participants on the importance of recognising breast abnormalities, such as lumps and other unusual changes, and seeking professional medical attention without delay.

Dr Yaw Tutu also highlighted the importance of breast cancer education and regular screening, particularly in helping people identify possible signs of the disease early.

The exercise formed part of activities marking Pink October, the annual breast cancer awareness month, during which organisations and health professionals intensify efforts to promote awareness, early detection and treatment of the disease.

Speaking on the initiative, Director of Marketing and Innovation at Royal Kingdom Estate, Seth Yamoah, said the exercise reflected the company's commitment to giving back to communities in which it operates.

“We undertake CSR activities every year and, as part of Pink October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we decided to come to Amanfrom to conduct free breast cancer screening for them. We are doing this with Medigrace Medical Centre,” he said.

He explained that the company's community support initiatives extended beyond healthcare to include job creation, noting that Royal Kingdom Estates made efforts to employ a percentage of its workforce from communities where it operates.

“We do this because, as a company, we believe in giving back to the community. We do create employment or jobs for the people because we always make sure to employ a percentage of our workers from the community as a way of giving back,” Mr Yamoah added.

The Odikro of Amanfrom, Nana Obirikoran, praised Royal Kingdom Estate and its medical partner for bringing the initiative to the community.

Some beneficiaries also welcomed the initiative, describing the education provided by the medical team as helpful in improving their understanding of breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

One participant noted that the exercise was particularly valuable because not everyone in the community had adequate knowledge about the disease.

The initiative forms part of Royal Kingdom Estates' corporate social responsibility efforts, which include supporting community development through healthcare interventions, employment opportunities and other outreach activities.
