Rotary Foundation presents medical equipment to seven hospitals

The Rotary Foundation, the investment wing of Rotary International, a social club, has presented medical equipment and devices worth US $100,000 dollars to seven hospitals in Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.

The items comprised hanging scales, vaccine carriers, bathroom scales, autoclaves, infant incubators, foetal monitor, centrifuge, blood plasma storage freezers and blood bags.

Others are; nebulizer machine, delivery set, patient monitors, radiant heaters, Ultrasound, HP Meters, exam screens, digital thermometers, digital BP monitors and Veronica buckets.

The Rotary Club of Sunyani East afor called for the items to be distributed to Kintampo Municipal Hospital, St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital at Hwidiem, Holy Family Catholic Hospital at Berekum, Bechem Municipal Government Hospital, Goaso Municipal Government Hospital, Kwame Danso District Government Hospital and Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

Some of the devices and machines have already been installed and were functioning at the respective Hospitals.

Rotarian Samuel Amemasor-Brooks, the President of the Rotary Club of Sunyani East said the Club was determined to reduce the rate of maternal and infant mortality in the regions and expressed worry over disturbing statistics of maternal and infant mortalities in the country, hence the need to support health professionals to bring the situation under control.

Nana Dr Kwaku Owusu Boampong, a Deputy Director in-charge of Administration at the Brong-Ahafo Regional Health Directorate, expressed gratitude to the Club, and advised the beneficiary health facilities to ensure proper maintenance of the items.

He regretted that medical devices and equipment in many of the hospitals were obsolete and appealed to the general public to support hospitals and other health facilities in their communities.
