Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency in the Western Region, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah has donated GHC10,000 to Ellembelle District Health Directorate.
The donation is to support the immediate logistics needed by the District to fight against the deadly Coronavirus outbreak.
Apart from the cash donation, the NDC MP also donated hand sanitizers, liquid soaps and toiletries to support the move.
In an exclusive interview with journalist Daniel Kaku, the M.P said the fight against the Coronavirus should be a shed responsibility and called on all Ghanaians to support the fight.
"The fight against the virus should devoid of politics, let us all come together as one people to fight against it", he said.
He disclosed that he had an emergency meeting with the management of Eikwe Hospital the biggest hospital in the District and the Health Directorate to strategize to put measures in place to combat the killer virus.
He said the hand sanitizers and the liquid soaps were made by the youth he was training them to become self-employed.
"Daniel Kaku, do you know the good news here, the good news is that some of the items donated such as the hand sanitizers and the liquid soaps were the end products from the youth skill-based training I am currently sponsoring", he announced.
He, there took the opportunity to pledge to continue to support the Ellembelle District Health Directorate to fight the virus from spreading in the district.
He is, therefore, appealing to other companies in the District to support his agenda.
On public education, the MP had the opportunity to sensitize the students and teachers of Christ Leading International School at Esisma before President Akufo-Addo directed all public and private schools to close down for four weeks.
He advised them to adhere to the preventive measures putting in place by the Ghana Health Service.
Demonstrating how to wash their hands, Armah Kofi-Buah said the palm, in between the fingers, the thumbs, the nails and the back of the hands should be washed thoroughly, adding that it should be same way sanitizers were also applied.
He, however took the opportunity to officially congratulate the school for emerging second in the just ended 63rd Independence Day Quiz Competition held in Tarkwa.
He donated some text books to the school to support teaching and learning.
In addition, he promised to give the participants new laptops to aid their studies and future preparation for the competition.
"Let me state emphatically that, I am very proud of the school and the participants for the honour they have brought to Ellembelle and for flying the flag of Ellembelle high in the sky", he expressed happiness.
COVID-19 is a family of viruses that cause illnesses ranging from common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).
These viruses were originally transmitted between animals and people.
The symptoms include fever, cough, cold, and breathing difficulties and in more severe cases can lead to pneumonia, multiple organ failure and death.
Health experts advise that individuals observed personal hygiene, be physically active, drink plenty of water, eat healthily, avoid stress and have enough sleep to stay safe.
