Obuasi, Nov. 7, GNA - Ashantoigold on Sunday capitalized on their numerical advantage to beat visiting Okwahu United 2-0 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in their GP Premier league match. The home team scored two quick goals from the heads of Anthony Baffoe and substitute Richard Awuah in the in the 75th and 77th minutes to earn them the need victory.

With the unimpressive performance of the "Miners" of late haunting them propelled them themselves into the game and made early incursuions in an attempt to find the opener.

However in their anxiety for an early goal, Kenneth Ababio and George Eranio wasted two clear chances in the 13th and 16th minutes. In the 22nd minute, last season' joint-goal king, Shaibu Yakubu dramatized his trade mark with a powerful drive that sailed over the bar.

Ashantigold kept harassing the defense of their opponents but the best they could do was to waste four corner-kicks in the 28th, 29th, 38th and 40th minutes.

The visitors made their first substitutions in the 30th minute by bringing on Nana Kwasi Kyeremanteng for Seidu Yakubu and had their brightest chances in the 14th and 15th but they wasted the chances in the barren first half.

On resumption of the second half, Ashantigold kept the heat on the visitors but failed to break the deadlock until the 75th minute. The opener came after Accra-based referee R.Y. Kwabo had sent off substitute Kyeremanteng for a second bookable offence for rough play as he tried to use his hand to score a goal.

In the 77th minute, Awuah increased the score for the home side when he headed home the ball after Okwahu's keeper, Joseph Aryeetey failed to grab first time a power- laden drive from Issac Amponsah to send the home fans jubilating.
