A first half strike by Yakubu Mohammed was all visiting Ashgold required to overpower Mighty Jets in their Week 19 Glo Premier League game played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Ashgold had fared the better of the two sides creating more chances than the homers who required all points to continue their battle for Premiership survival and when Mohammed sent the Miners into the lead in 32 minutes, they had enough resilience to hang on till the end.
Mohammed was set free from the middle after Ashgold turned defending into attack. The player raced deep, shredding tackles from his makers before shooting past goalkeeper Titus Baiden to register the only goal.
The goal will wake the homers from their slumber, but it was Ashgold who still dominated play and was unlucky not to have scored again.
The victory marks the Miners third in succession in four games since the second rounds resumed.
