Former Premiership side B/A United defeated Bolgatanga Upper Stars by 2-1 to brighten their chances of gaining promotion spot in the Ghanaian Premiership on a tense and, at times, confusing afternoon at The Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

B.A United who have been divided by pettiness, jealousy and back biting in about 7 years came into the game this time more united.

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Blackstars player George Arthur, who happens to be a former CEO of the club,Charles Kwadwo Ntim alias Mickey Charles, the immediate past CEO and a sports journalist who is still battling the club in court,Takyi Arhin formerly of Bofoakwa and a house hold name in Ghana football were all seen very busy in Kumasi since Friday night with the current management, trying to make sure the team qualifies this time around.

Osman Sakora alias Olembe scored twice in each half to earn the victory that could end their 6 years spell in division one.

B/A United will have to win in their next game on Thursday against Bazooka F/C at the Anane Boateng stadium at Abrankese and pray Bechem United and Upper Stars draw again in their match at the Baba Yara Stadium to gain automatic qualification. With so much potentially at stake, the match got off to a pulsating start, and only three minutes were on the clock when B.A United struck. Upper Stars goalkeeper failed to make a first time save from a Francis Boahene free-kick and Joseph Halm, volleyed into the bottom corner for Osman Sakora to tap it on the line.

However, it was a far from straightforward afternoon for B/A and their supporters - and at one point it looked to be heading towards disaster. Class one referee Lord Vivor who denied B.A United from qualification two seasons ago at the same venue against Bechem Chelsea with his able lieutenant Eric Owusu Mensah the most corrupt men in Ghana football, started flashing his cards to B.A United, apparently just to weaken their team before their last game against Bechem . B.A United came back for the second half with almost all the supporters complaining about refree Lord Vivor and swore heaven and earth to win the game convincingly. Osman Sakora again pounced on a loose ball from midfield and shot straight at goal in the 48th minute for the second goal of the day with Upper stars goal keeper standing helplessly. Upper stars got a consolation goal from Lord Vivor in the dying embers of the game after a player dived into the penalty area of B.A. Officiating was very bad, missing a number of bad challenges against B.A United, which led some dignitaries to question whether Upper stars had eleven or twelve men on the field.
