Dwarf/Bofoakwa share points

Accra, Sep. 28, GNA - Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs and Tano Bofoakwa shared honours in their 24th week Premier League match at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra on Wednesday.

As Dwarfs are struggling to survive relegation, the results has worsened their plight in the Premiership as they occupy the bottom with 22 points and risk going to the wilderness if they fail to improve on their performance in their subsequent matches.

Playing in a virtually empty stadium, the two sides exhibited an uninspiring game and failed to create any significant goal scoring opportunities throughout the game.

For Bofoakwa, it was a welcome result for them as they could afford to breath for a while in the Premiership following their mid table position, while players of Dwarfs were stuck to the pitch as a result of their inability to win the game at the 'home' match game away from their home base due as a disciplinary measure.

Kotoko Beat Hotspurs

Kumasi, Sept 28, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Kade Hotspurs 2-0 in their mid-week GT Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday. Kotoko kicked off and went straight into action and scored the opening goal in the third minute through Nasiru Ghani who connected home George Yamoah's cross.

Nasiru nearly increased the tally in the sixth minute but shot off target.

Hotspurs came into the picture and nearly got the equaliser in the 20th minute but Fred Okoe shot a free kick awarded them just outside the 18 yard box over the bar to the relief of the home side.

Five minutes later, Yusif Chipsah failed to increase the tally for Kotoko when his shot hit the cross bar after he lobbed the ball over on-rushing goalkeeper Mustapha of Hotspurs.

Chipsah was on target again in the 29th minute but the mid-fielder fumbled with Kotoko's attacker, Nana Arhin Duah also squandering a chance in the 35th minute.

With the sustained heat on Hotspurs, Kotoko went ahead to score their second goal in the 39th minute through their speedster George Yamoah, who after receiving a neat pass, raced with the ball and dribbled the goalie before slotting the ball into an empty net. Goalkeeper Mustapha who got injured in the process was substituted with Michael Abu just after the goal.

Both teams resumed the second half with vigour but it was still Kotoko who had the upper hand. They exhausted their substitutions but the attackers could not translate their dominance to make use of the chances that came their way into goals.

In the 76th minute, Kenneth Kettini of Hotspurs was shown the red card for rough play on substitute Kwabena Dodzie. Hotspurs reduced to 10 players from then managed to put the breaks on Kotoko and met them boot for boot with both teams making efforts to score but none could utilize the chances that came their way till the referee's whistle for the end of hostilities.
