The rivalry between Accra Hearts of Oak and Accra Great Olympics, which had eluded the two sides for some time was rekindled at the Tema Sports Stadium on Wednesday when Hearts fought from a goal down to beat Olympics 2-1 in their GT One Touch Premier League match. It was Olympics who opened the scores in the fifth minute through Emmanuel Clottey when he capitalized on a defensive blunder to put the ball at the blind side of goalkeeper Abubakar Alhassan in posts for Hearts.
As Eric Gawu, Joe Tagoe and Moses Andoh spearheading the Hearts' attach, the Phobians repulsed the attack and earned a penalty when Gawu who was in a good position to score was fouled in the box by Oly's keeper Ben Mensah.
Dan Quaye who elected himself for the kick, put his side on level terms in the ninth minute with a superb kick that isplaced the Oly keeper.
Gawu nearly made in two in the 40th minute but found his beautiful shot expertly saved by keeper Mensah.
Both teams resumed the second session strongly but it was Hearts who were slightly on top and went ahead to earn another penalty in the 48th minute when keeper Mensah again fouled Moses Andoh in the box but Quaye this time round failed to score as his kick went over the bar for a welcome goal kick for Olympics.
Substitute Stanley Afedzie made victory certain for Hearts when he weaved through a forest of legs to snatch the match winner in the 75th minute.
The 'Dade' boys threw everything into the game but all their attempts at goal were thwarted by the defenders of Hearts to give the Phobians to welcome victory.
Hearts keeper Alhassan was adjudged the best player of the match.
